Kersosene Heater FAQ's
Red Kerosene
We highly reccomend the use of Clear K1 Kerosene if it is available. If not Red K1 kerosene can be used, we find that it tends to "plug" the wicks quicker.
Kerosene Storage
Only buy as much kerosene as you can use in 3 months. Kerosene tends to absorb water from the air and this will plug your wick. Any "bubbles" that you see in the bottom of the heater or kerosene can are an indication that the kerosene is contaminated and should not be used in your heater.
Always store kerosene in approved containers, the use of unaproved containers can cause contamination from the plastics (for example, the plastic in milk jugs breaks down and can plug the wick)

Kerosene heaters smell for a variety of reasons, Bad fuel, improper wick height, or burning the heater at to low of a setting are the main culprits.
